2025 vintage

The year 2025 experienced a normally watered autumn and winter.

Spring was late to arrive, and during May and June we had fairly cool temperatures, around 6°C in the morning, with a constant north wind.

We therefore did not suffer any spring frost, as budburst of the vines occurred at a normal time.

Flowering took place in mid-June but dragged on for about ten days, with a constant north wind that caused significant coulure.

The weather was dry from April onwards, so we did not fear the fungal diseases of downy mildew or powdery mildew.

We experienced two heatwaves during the season: one at the end of June and another lasting about ten days around August 15th.

The vines did not suffer at the start of the season thanks to the large reserves of water in the soil. However, the August heatwave damaged the grapes, leading to shriveled berries and concentrated juice. Temperatures exceeded 40°C.

When we returned from summer holidays, around the third week of August, the grapes had thick skins, were small in size, and lacked juice. Ripening progressed slowly. The grapes were tasteless and dry.

We scheduled the harvest to begin on September 1st. The previous week, the vines in Gevrey received about 50 mm of rain, which stretched the very thick skins, slightly swelled some berries, and allowed ripening to resume.

The grapes became more flavorful, phenolic maturity advanced, and the tannins in the skins and seeds softened. The first grapes we picked are of exceptional quality, with very deeply colored juice and interesting aromatic profiles. We should achieve a truly great vintage, in the style of 2005 or 2015.

We are only a little disappointed with yields, around 32 to 35 hl/ha at most
