2006 vintage

The 2005/2006 winter was long with low temperatures from the 15th of November until the end of May 2006. A snowstorm hit Gevrey in early March 2006 which led to a late budbreak.

Spring commenced with clement temperatures in June favoring flowering which then occurred under ideal conditions near June 15 th. July was very warm with record temperatures. The month of August was rainy and cold which allowed the vines to make up for their lack of water in July and promoted growth under ideal conditions. A hailstorm affected Gevrey at the end of July.

Green harvest was carried out during the first half of July in order to reduce yield and aerate the grape clusters.

September was exceptionally beautiful and sunny which allowed for optimal grape maturation as well as arrested growth of any existing rot.

Consequently, grape crop health was satisfactory during harvest which began on September 25 th at the estate. We carried out a stringent sorting of the harvest to eliminate the few areas of existing rot and any grapes dried by the hailstorm. Then we put the whole grapes into tanks via a new barrelling system.

Natural alcohol concentrations were excellent, between 12 and 13 ° , with good acidity and good ph, indicating a stable and sufficient quantity of tartaric acid. The musts were then delicately pressed in a pneumatic presser.

The first 2006 which we tasted seem to be quite balanced, with a good structure and extremely fine tannins.
