The spring and summer of 2002 were not favourable. Three weeks
into the harvest, the grapes were not looking good. Then we
had five days of good bright and dry weather with a northerly
wind. This wind cleansed and concentrated the grapes in record
time and encouraged maturing.
The juices were then coloured, full of structured fruit with
nice tight tannins. The 2002 vintage after thermoregulated fermentation
is remarkably balanced between aromatic freshness and a firm
constitution that will keep well.
